Some folks instinctively know "what goes with what." The rest of us struggle to find perfect perennial partners for the garden. How DO you create pleasing, colorful, compositions in your beds and borders? Garden designers know to look for the common color characteristics, or color "echoes," and tie them together from one plant to the next for a harmonious composition. This program will showcase gorgeous color combinations you can make work at home.
Mary Ann Newcomer, scribe-scout-speaker blogs at www.gardensofthewildwildwest.com. She's know as the Dirt Diva on the River Radio, 94.9 in Boise, ID. An accomplished horticulturist, and garden designer, she has wielded her creativity and design talents on public, private and commercial gardens and landscapes. Bug Zoo
The Bug Zoo provides a chance for children to learn about our many-legged friends. Children who experience a butterfly breezing by their face or a pill bug opening in their hand foster a life-long appreciation of our natural world. The Bug Zoo has grown into a household name thanks to our members who have supported the Zoo financially, as volunteers at the event, and by over a thousand visiting children.
The Bug Zoo begins with the annual Bug Zoo Festival and continues for 2 weeks after. This hands-on exhibit showcases more than 25 species to educate the public and school groups about the insect world. Teachers begin scheduling field trips early; they love the opportunity for a meaningful educational outing, especially one which is free!
