Local astronomers and night sky enthusiasts will lead participants on a cosmic tour including the Perseid meteor shower, deep sky objects, and summer constellations. This FREE event will include meteor watching and telescope observing, plus kid’s astro-activities. IDSA will also offer information about their efforts to reduce light pollution and preserve our breathtaking views of the night sky.

The peak nights for the Perseids in 2026 are August 11-13. A new moon on August 12 will provide a dark sky, making it easier to see even faint meteors. The best time to spot meteors is from midnight to dawn. To enhance your viewing experience, you might want to bring a comfy chair or blanket to stretch out on. And don’t forget to grab a coat to stay warm.
