Stargazing in the Garden

The Idaho Dark Sky Alliance (IDSA) invites the community to an evening of learning and stargazing featuring guest presenter Dr. Madeleine McKenzie. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Hailey Town Center West, followed by an outdoor stargazing session at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.

Dr. McKenzie will present an engaging talk exploring Ancient Relics of the Milky Way. Her presentation will offer attendees the opportunity to deepen their understanding of theuniverse before heading outdoors to experience the night sky firsthand. Following the talk at 8:30, there will be a guided stargazing night at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. Dr. McKenzie and local astronomers will lead observers in identifying stars, planets, and seasonal constellations, alongside telescope viewing available as weather conditions allow.

To enhance your viewing experience, be sure to dress warm. While the winter night sky can offer exceptionally clear views, stargazing is weather dependent. If sky conditions are unfavorable, updates will be posted on the Idaho Dark Sky Instagram and Facebook pages prior to the event.

The Seminar and stargazing are co-sponsored by the Idaho Dark Sky Alliance, Hailey Public Library, Sawtooth Botanical Garden, ERC, and Boise State University.
