More about
Cathryn Jenkins
Cathryn Jenkins is a full-time sculptor based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Raised in the Selkirk Mountains, she developed a love for the natural world and a keen interest in her mother's stone sculpting studio.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
• Jenkins specializes in wildlife sculptures, often crafted from materials like bronze and stone.
• She selects her stone from hand-quarried sources in British Columbia, including marble, alabaster, serpentine, and soapstone. Each type of stone has unique qualities that are revealed through her meticulous techniques—using hammer and chisel, diamond blades, rasps, and files.
• The result is a harmonious blend of flowing shapes, powerful lines, and lustrous surfaces that beckon to be touched.
NOTABLE WORKS
• Public Art Installations: Jenkins has contributed to various public art projects, including installations at the University of Alberta's Physical Activity Centre and the Croyden Business Centre in Surrey, BC.
• Exhibitions: Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions across Canada and the U.S., including group exhibits at the Booth Western Museum in Georgia and the Rockwell Museum in New York.
