The Sawtooth Botanical Garden is a community resource that connects people to this region's unique beauty and fosters environmental stewardship.

The Gardens

Spanning 5 acres, the Sawtooth Botanical Garden is organized around five major gardens representing the five biomes of south-central Idaho—Sagebrush Steppe, Lava, Alpine, Montane and Riparian. Throughout the property, you’ll find art installations, educational beds, and some very special spaces including the Sawtooth Sandbox, the Garden of Of Infinite Compassion, the Prayer Wheel and, of course, our Visitor Center and Greenhouse.

This year marks a milestone for the Sawtooth Botanical Garden—30 years of inspiring connection, education, and celebration in one of the most stunning natural settings in the Wood River Valley. For three decades, our community has gathered here to honor life’s moments—through weddings, memorials, children’s camps, classes, and quiet contemplation.

Today, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure the land that has supported all of this. Since its founding, the Garden has leased its five lots from the Enlyst Fund. The Enlyst Fund has now generously offered to sell the land to us for $800,000—half of its $1.6 million appraised value.

To ensure the Garden’s permanent home, we are launching a capital campaign to raise the funds needed for this purchase.

We know there are many worthy causes in the Valley. However, we believe the Sawtooth Botanical Garden is uniquely positioned to serve the full breadth of our community. It’s a place where:

  • Children learn about ecology through camps and school programs

  • Artists and photographers find inspiration among the five thriving biomes and sculpture garden

  • Friends and families gather for weddings, celebrations, and remembrances

  • Visitors from around the world experience the only Dalai Lama-blessed prayer wheel in the U.S.

  • Locals and tourists alike enjoy a peaceful refuge as part of an established network of botanical gardens across the country

In an increasingly busy world, the Garden offers a rare opportunity to slow down, learn, and reconnect—with nature and with each other.

Once we secure the land, we plan to launch a second phase of fundraising to upgrade the visitor’s center, greenhouse, parking area, educational beds, and other key infrastructure—ensuring the Garden is ready to serve for the next 30 years. We are also committed to growing our endowment to support the long-term health and sustainability of the Garden for generations to come.
